Job summary

TotalMed RN is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a travel assignment in Salem, Virginia. The position is 13 weeks long, with 36 hours per week on 12-hour day shifts. The right candidate has 1–2 years of acute care experience and an active RN license, plus BLS certification.

As a Med/Surg Travel Nurse, you will perform patient assessments, administer meds, and educate patients and families. You must be capable of standing long shifts and lifting up to 50 pounds as needed in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• BLS required and active RN licensure.
• 1–2 years of recent acute care experience preferred.
• Travel nursing assignments; 13 weeks minimum with 36 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside care for Med/Surg patients, including pre- and post-op.
• Administer and document prescribed medications and monitor reactions.
• Change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs as needed.
• Prepare equipment and assist physicians during examinations and procedures.
• Educate patients and families and participate in discharge planning.
