Job summary

Sweetwater Care seeks an experienced nurse for travel assignments in California. The role requires an active LVN/LPN license (or compact license where applicable) and at least one year of nursing experience, preferably in Long Term Care. Strong charting skills and typing are expected.

The nurse will provide care per standards and physician orders, participate in quality improvement, educate families, and collaborate with physicians during rounds as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have active California LVN/LPN license or compact license when working in a compact state.
• One year of nursing experience preferred.
• Long Term Care experience is required.
• Proficient with computer charting and typing.

Responsibilities

• Provides nursing care within scope of practice according to standards, orders, and policies.
• Participates in the Quality Improvement Program.
• Uses the Quality Life Manual to place and monitor patients in programs.
• Notifies departments of patient changes (room changes, LOA, new admits, discharge).
• Educates patients and families.
• Administers medications and treatments according to facility policy.
• Receives, transcribes, and carries out physician orders as allowed by the Nurse Practice Act.
• Makes rounds with physicians when necessary.

Objective

Provides nursing care within the scope of practice to ensure patients’ needs are met by standards of practice, physician orders, center policies and procedures, and state, federal, and local guidelines.

Principal Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge and appropriate use of the Company Infection Control Manual.
• Understands, participates, and assists in implementing the Quality Improvement Program.
• Utilizes the Quality Life Manual to identify, place, and monitor patients in the appropriate programs.
• Notifies other Departments of patient changes, i.e., room changes, LOA, new admits, discharge, etc.
• Conducts family and patient education.
• Demonstrates the ability to administer medications in a timely and according to facility policy.
• Demonstrates the ability to administer treatments in a timely and according to facility policy.
• Demonstrates ability to receive, transcribe, and carry out physician orders, if allowed by the Nurse Practice Act.
• Makes rounds with physicians when necessary.

Qualifications

• The candidate will hold a current license as LVN/LPN in the state of California if the contract is in the state of California. Possess a compact license if working in a Compact state.
• One year prior nursing experience is preferred.
• Long Term Care experience is a must.
• The candidate will have sufficient knowledge of computer charting and be proficient with typing.
