The role requires circulating in OR, newborn care proficiency, and the ability to float to related units within the state. Travel and licensure reimbursements are provided, along with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years of recent high-acuity, high-volume L&D experience required.
• High-risk labor and delivery experience required.
• Experience circulating in OR and newborn care is required.
• BLS and NRP certifications required; ACLS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work in a high-volume, high-acuity L&D unit.
• Provide mother and newborn care, including newborn procedures.
• Circulate in deliveries and monitor fetal status with EFM.
• Float to Postpartum, Antepartum, and other Mother/Baby units as needed.
• Follow AWHONN staffing guidelines and hospital policies.

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring high-risk L&D expertise, a current WA or compact RN license, and the ability to circulate and provide newborn care.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a high-volume, high-acuity Labor & Delivery unit
• Unit averages 15 patients per day with 500-600 deliveries per month
• Department features 31 beds and 4 operating rooms
• Patient population includes midwifery clients, high-risk pregnancies, OB patients, and substance recovery support
• Care for both mother and newborn, including private OB and community clinic referrals
• Requires floating to Postpartum, Antepartum, and potentially sister Mother/Baby units within the state
• Day shift, 3x12 hours from 7:00 to 19:30, with schedule posted every 6 weeks
• Required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed
• Uses Epic EMR and electronic fetal monitoring
• Duties include circulating in deliveries and providing newborn care such as eyes, thighs, vitamin K, and assessments
• Must function independently in a fast-paced, high-risk environment while adhering to AWHONN staffing guidelines
• Team supports adult recovery services for substance use and works with both midwifery and private OB clients
• Staff must be able to float within the system as required
• Returning perm staff must have a separation of at least 3 months and live more than 50 miles from the facility
• Holiday and weekend shifts are required as scheduled
• Scrub requirements consistent with hospital policy

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required
• Minimum 3-5 years of recent high-acuity, high-volume L&D experience required
• High-risk labor and delivery experience required
• Must provide current supervisory references and proof of certifications
• Experience with circulating in OR and comprehensive newborn care is required
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate
• Proficiency with Epic EMR and electronic fetal monitoring required
• Experience with procedures including heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate administration is required
• Not eligible for first-time travelers
