Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a 13-week night shift at a Level 1 trauma center and Level 3 perinatal facility. The role requires advanced AWHONN AFM certification and IL RN licensure.

Responsibilities include caring for high-risk obstetrics, circulating cesarean sections, and managing drips (Pitocin, Magnesium, Insulin). EPIC EMR is used with Stork/Obix monitoring, with 12-hour night shifts and weekend rotations.

Qualifications

Active IL RN license required at time of submission.
BLS (AHA), ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM) certifications.
Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience preferred.
Proficient in caring for high-risk OB patients.
Must manage Magnesium, Pitocin, and Insulin drips.
Circulate cesarean sections in OR and recover in PACU.
Proficient in newborn care for vaginal and cesarean deliveries.
BSN not required.

Responsibilities

Acute care setting in a Labor & Delivery unit at a level 1 trauma center and level 3 perinatal center.
Operate 9 LDR rooms, 2 OR suites for C‑sections, 1 PACU, 6 triage rooms, 18-bed antepartum, and 36 postpartum rooms.
Care for high-risk pregnancies, vaginal and cesarean deliveries, and cerclage placements.
Follow AWHONN staffing ratios: 1:1 induction/active labor; 2 RN:1 for vaginal/cesarean deliveries; 1:1 PACU; 1 RN:3 in L&D triage.
RNs titrate drips including Pitocin, Magnesium, and Insulin.
Charge nurse and house supervisor available 24/7; charge nurse does not take patient assignments.
Floats to Postpartum and Antepartum units; unit-specific orientation typical.
