The Interventional Radiology Technologist performs interventional radiology procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients as requested by a physician or other licensed provider for diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day. The technologist prepares patients and the procedure area, including positioning, immobilization, and equipment setup, maintains sterile techniques, adheres to safety, infection‑control protocols, drug and radiation policies, and ensures timely documentation in the imaging system. The technologist uses AIDET when communicating with patients, instructs patients and families regarding the test, and may be required to take call (including response readiness for arrival to the unit).
