Job Summary

Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) Registered Nurse (RN) position located in a Level I trauma center. This fast-paced assignment involves providing specialized care to adult patients with a variety of diagnoses, utilizing advanced cardiac and neurological skills. The RN will deliver high-quality patient care within a 38-bed unit, supporting interdisciplinary teams and utilizing Cerner charting systems.

Job Details

Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week. Required Qualifications: Valid Illinois RN license, BLS certification, NIHSS certification, minimum 1 year of relevant experience, and experience in telemetry, neurology, and stepdown care. Preferred Qualifications: ACLS certification, experience with Cerner electronic charting, and level I trauma unit experience. Float: Will float as needed within scope to meet facility demands. Additional Information: Need to interpret dysrhythmias, manage post-cardiac procedures, and handle ventilated patients. Must be proficient in IV therapy, medication management, and advanced cardiac monitoring. Experience with tracheostomy care, neuro trauma, orthopedic trauma, and wound care preferred. The unit offers interdisciplinary support including respiratory therapy, radiology, and pharmacy. Orientation includes 24 hours of virtual training; completion required within 1 week of start date. Travelers must be prepared for high patient throughput with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, with charge nurses managing four patients.
