Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Speech Language Pathologist for a Home Health role with BLS certification and dysphagia assessment skills.
Responsibilities
- Home health setting providing speech language pathology services throughout South King and Pierce Counties, including Burien, Tukwila, Kent, Federal Way, Tacoma, Lakewood, and Puyallup
- Patient caseload typically includes 4-5 patients per day
- Common diagnoses include CVA, ALS, MS, and various types of dementia
- Rehabilitation background in SNF or home health is helpful
- Duties include dysphagia and swallowing assessments as well as cognitive and aphasia care
- Documentation is completed using the Epic EMR system
- Day shift available: Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm or Monday through Thursday, 8am-6pm
- No weekend or holiday coverage required
- Provide home health speech pathology services for adults with neurological and cognitive diagnoses
- Perform comprehensive assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
- Deliver direct patient care including dysphagia, cognitive, and aphasia interventions
- Work closely with rehabilitation aides (SLAs) as part of the care team
- Department-specific orientation provided for 2 weeks
- Dress code is scrubs or business casual attire
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years
- Return candidates must not have been employed directly by a CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility in the past year
- Home health experience preferred but not required
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience as a Speech Language Pathologist
- Active state or compact (NLC) license required if applicable; pending licenses are not accepted
- Current BLS certification required
- CCC-SLP certification preferred but not required
- Valid driver's license required
- Ability to travel within specified coverage areas
- Background in rehab or skilled nursing facility experience helpful if home health experience is lacking
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred
