Job summary

Healthforce seeks a Histotechnologist for a travel assignment in Saint Helena, CA. Start date 10/12/2026; duration 13 weeks. Weekly pay $2,220–$2,383; guaranteed 36 hours. Night shift 11:00 PM–7:30 AM in a short-term acute care hospital lab.

Responsibilities include embedding, microtomy, staining and labeling, processing gynecologic, non-gynecologic, and bone marrow specimens, and preparing slides for Pathologist review with stringent QC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in cytology/cytotechnology or equivalent is required or preferred.
• Two years of recent histology experience with microtomy, embedding, special stains and IHC.
• ASCP Histology Technician certification preferred.
• Current BLS certification; nursing license per state of assignment may be required (not mandatory).

Responsibilities

• Prepare tissue sections for microscopic examination using embedding, microtomy, staining, coverslipping, and labeling.
• Process gynecological, non-gynecological, and bone marrow specimens; ensure high diagnostic quality.
• Operate and troubleshoot histology equipment; prepare reagents; monitor temperatures and supplies.
• Prepare slides for Pathologist review and deliver findings; document results accurately.
• Maintain quality control checks and document controls for stains and IHC.
