Required Qualifications:

• One year of recent experience as a Histotechnologist (HTL) or Histology Technician (HT)
• Valid license as per state regulations

Preferred Qualifications:

• National certification through ASCP or equivalent (AMT, AAB, HEW)
• Additional certifications or licenses as required

Summary:

Histotechnologists (HTL) / Histology Technicians (HT) prepare tissue samples for microscopic examination to assist in diagnosing diseases. They process, embed, section, and stain specimens, ensuring high-quality slides. Attention to detail, technical skills, and safety adherence are essential.

Essential Work Functions:

• Receive, process, and prepare tissue specimens
• Differentiate cellular changes accurately
• Perform embedding, cutting, staining, and slide preparation
• Operate and maintain lab equipment
• Verify specimen accuracy and documentation
• Follow quality control protocols
• Assist pathologists with special stains and immunohistochemistry
• Maintain safety and regulatory compliance
• Perform additional duties as assigned
