Job summary

ACUREN is seeking a Heat Treat Technician II for travel across the West Region. The role performs heat treatment operations, sets up and operates furnaces, verifies temperature and time parameters, and ensures treated materials meet metallurgical and dimensional requirements.

You will conduct hardness and microstructure checks, troubleshoot deviations, and maintain accurate process documentation while training junior technicians and following safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of heat treatment processes (annealing, normalizing, quenching, tempering).
• Ability to set up, operate, and monitor furnaces, ovens and quenching systems.
• Interpret work orders and temperature/time parameters precisely.
• Perform hardness testing and basic microstructure evaluations.
• Troubleshoot deviations and document data accurately.
• Follow safety protocols and train junior technicians.

Responsibilities

• Set up Pre-Heat and Stress Relief equipment.
• Must be available for call out jobs.
• Adhere to Safety Policy and Procedures.
• Promote a positive safety culture.
• Produce Heat Treat charts and reports for QC.
• Communicate with Project Manager, QC Manager, and Supervisor.
• Maintain morale and professional presentation.
• Other duties as assigned.
