Job summary

Paycom - ATS is hiring a Utility Field Technician in Hickory, NC. The role focuses on locating underground utilities, marking pathways, and supporting SUE operations in varied land conditions.

You will assist the SUE Crew Chief, operate specialized equipment, and document field data while ensuring safety and adherence to site plans. Travel to remote locations may be required and a valid driver's license is needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• Minimum 1 year field experience with SUE preferred; equivalent education considered.
• Knowledge of municipal construction and utility infrastructure practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist SUE Crew Chief with underground utility location, designation, and excavation tasks.
• Load, unload, and maintain SUE equipment daily.
• Safely excavate to expose subsurface utilities using hand tools and vacuum tech.
• Provide accurate measurements for utilities within project limits.
• Read and interpret utility records, as-built drawings, and highway plans.
• Collect field data, locate features, and relay data to the office with records.
• Coordinate with survey work and assist mapping and data collection as needed.
• Wear PPE and drive company vehicles as required.
