Job summary

Healthforce in San Luis Obispo, CA is seeking an Endoscopy Tech for a 13-week travel assignment in a short-term acute care hospital GI lab, starting 10/26/2026. The day shift runs 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, Monday–Friday, with 36 guaranteed hours per week.

You will assist gastroenterologists during endoscopic procedures, handle endoscopes and equipment, ensure sterilization and quality control, and collaborate with nurses to care for adult and geriatric patients.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of GI lab/endoscopy experience.
• Current BLS/CPR certification.
• Current nursing license for the state of assignment.
• High School diploma or GED; Associate’s/Technical degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist gastroenterologists during endoscopic procedures in the GI lab; prepare the procedure room, equipment, and sterile supplies; assist with patient positioning and monitoring.
• Handle endoscopes and related equipment, including cleaning, disinfection, storage, and quality testing; perform ultrasonic cleaning and solution changes as required; document quality control results.
• Maintain sterilization quality and compliance with universal precautions and hazardous materials management; supervise sterilization processes per established policies.
• Transport patients between departments; collaborate with registered nurses to provide direct care to adult and geriatric patients undergoing GI procedures.
• Inventory supplies and communicate needs to inventory staff; collect data for performance improvement and assist with specimen collection as required.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in GI lab/endoscopy or related field
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; CPR or BLS from an approved vendor per policy
• Current nursing license per the state of assignment
• Education: High School/GED required; Associate’s/Technical Degree preferred
• Ability to work in a fast-paced GI lab within a short-term acute care hospital setting
• Start times vary; call required with rotating weekend coverage
