Cross Country Nurses is seeking a travel nurse RN ED - Emergency Department for a travel nursing job in Omaha, Nebraska.

Job Summary

Emergency Room (ER) Nurse position located in a Level I Trauma Center. This opportunity involves providing high-acuity patient care in a fast-paced emergency department, working various night shifts, with a focus on trauma, sepsis, chest pain, shortness of breath, and strokes. This role requires a skilled ER nurse capable of managing complex cases and adhering to department protocols.

12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.

Required Qualifications

• Valid driver's license
• ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC certifications
• minimum of 2 years of recent emergency room experience
• ability to read and interpret patient strips
• must meet radius rule of 50 miles
• candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with the organization

Preferred Qualifications

• NRP certification is preferred

Additional Information

The ER is equipped with 20 beds, including 5 trauma bays, 10 observation beds, and hallway beds. The department features a Fast Track with 6 beds, a separate triage area with 3 beds, and maintains in-house security 24/7. Staffing includes ED physicians and mid-level providers, charge nurses on each shift, and a variety of support staff including nurse aides, EMTs, and paramedics. RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting their own electronic fetal monitoring strips. The ER handles common high-acuity cases such as trauma, strokes, sepsis, and chest pain, with all common trauma drips available. Orientation includes one week of onboarding, two shifts at Bergan, and one at UC. The department is fast-paced with high patient acuity. Floating to observation and other ER units is required at least once a week.
