Job summary

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN for an ECMO ICU PCICU assignment in Omaha, Nebraska. The ideal RN has at least one year of PCICU experience and holds BLS and PALS certifications, with Nebraska licensure eligibility.

The role features 12-hour shifts, 36 hours weekly, and a travel arrangement with a tax-free stipend to be determined. You will care for pediatric patients with congenital or acquired heart conditions, collaborating with cardiology and other specialists to provide high-level

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of PCICU or equivalent critical care experience.
• PALS and BLS certifications required.
• Eligible for state RN licensure in Nebraska.
• Experience with pediatric cardiac conditions is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to pediatric patients with cardiovascular conditions in the PCICU.
• Monitor vital signs, rhythms, oxygenation, and other critical parameters.
• Administer medications and manage ventilator support as directed.
• Assist with intra-aortic balloon pumps, external pacemakers, or ECMO as needed.
• Communicate clearly with families and coordinate with the care team.

TravelWe're looking for Registered Nurses (RN) for an immediate travel opening in Omaha, NE for our Pediatric CardiacIntensive Care Unit (PCICU).The right RN should have at least 1 year of experience in a PCICU setting. Read below for more details.As a PCICU Nurse, you will provide critical care to pediatric patients with congenital or acquired heart conditions,working closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide high-level care, monitor cardiovascular status, and supportfamilies through difficult times.As a PCICU Nurse, you should be prepared to perform the following tasks:Patient Care: Provide direct care to pediatric patients with cardiovascular conditions, including thoserecovering from heart surgery, congenital heart defects, or severe arrhythmiasMonitoring & Assessment: Continuously monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, oxygenation, and othercritical parameters. Assess patients for changes in condition and respond appropriatelyMedication Administration: Administer medications (including IV drips, blood products, and sedatives)according to protocol, monitor for side effects, and adjust dosages as neededVentilator Management: Assist with ventilator management, including non-invasive and invasiverespiratory support, and ensure proper airway managementCardiac Interventions: Assist with procedures like intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), external pacemakers,or ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) as directed by the cardiology teamFamily Communication: Provide clear, compassionate communication with patients' families, updatingthem on their child's condition, care plan, and prognosis. Offer emotional support and education to familymembersEmergency Response: Respond swiftly to cardiac and respiratory emergencies, including code situationsand rapid interventions in acute cardiovascular distressCollaboration: Work alongside pediatric cardiologists, surgeons, respiratory therapists, and other healthcareprofessionals in a collaborative environment to provide comprehensive careDocumentation: Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, changes in condition, and familyinteractions in the electronic health record (EHR)Patient Education: Educate families and caregivers on post-operative care, recovery expectations, and signsof complications that may require attentionThe ideal candidate must have at least one year of experience as an RN in a PCICU or similar critical care setting.Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications are required. Additionalcertifications may be required. Must be eligible for state licensure.PCICU Nurses should be able to stand or walk for long periods and must be able to bend, stoop, and lift with properbody mechanics. They should have exceptional critical thinking skills, strong communication abilities, and theability to provide compassionate care under pressure. They must be comfortable working with critically ill pediatricpatients and supporting families through emotionally challenging situations.
