Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an Echo Technologist/Cardiac Sonographer with 2+ years of experience and RDCS certification to perform diagnostic echocardiographic procedures in a hospital setting.

The role requires ARDMS/CCI certification, BLS, and a cardiac-focused Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. You will perform TTE, TEE, and stress echocardiograms, document results in PACS/EMR, and coordinate with cardiology staff. Day shifts, five 8-hour shifts, in Hermiston, OR.

Qualifications

  • RDCS/ARDMS or RCS/CCI certification required
  • BLS certification required
  • Graduate of Diagnostic Medical Sonography program with cardiac focus
  • Minimum 1 year of Echo Tech experience; 3+ years preferred
  • Experience with Stress and TEE echocardiographic techniques preferred
  • May start and manage IV lines for contrast echocardiography when credentialed and trained
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently and assist with patient transfers over 100 lbs using proper techniques or mechanical aids
  • Continuous walking and standing throughout shift with occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching
  • License required if applicable

Responsibilities

  • Medical Unit setting performing diagnostic echocardiographic procedures under physician direction
  • Day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 5 shifts per week at 8 hours per shift
  • Perform transthoracic (TTE), transesophageal (TEE), and stress echocardiograms per ASE guidelines and physician orders
  • Utilize ultrasound and diagnostic imaging equipment, including contrast agents such as Definity and agitated bubble techniques
  • Documentation maintained in PACS or EMR system
  • Analyze echocardiographic data and prepare preliminary findings for the interpreting cardiologist
  • Collaborate with cardiologists and healthcare team to ensure quality patient care
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure comfort and safety
  • Review images for clarity, completeness, and diagnostic value
  • Perform equipment maintenance and quality control checks, reporting malfunctions promptly
  • Comply with infection control, HIPAA, and patient safety standards
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement and IAC Echocardiography accreditation processes
  • CRASE training required if assignment extends beyond 6 months
  • Fast-paced healthcare environment with exposure to infectious materials, requiring use of PPE
