Job summary

Medix is seeking an experienced Travel Cardiac Sonographer (Echo Tech) to join our team for an assignment with a premier hospital partner in New Lenox, IL. In this role, you will work alongside a highly collaborative cardiology team to deliver high-quality diagnostic cardiac ultrasound imaging across a diverse patient population.

This contract offers a consistent 4x10 schedule, modern equipment (Philips CVx), and dedicated patient transport support to allow you to focus directly on patient care.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of clinical echocardiography in an acute care hospital setting.
  • Active RDCS (ARDMS) or CCI credential in Adult Echocardiography.
  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality Transthoracic Echocardiograms (TTEs), Pediatric Echos, and 3D Imaging across varied patient populations.
  • Manage a high-volume daily caseload with 30–45 minute scanning slots for coverage.
  • Provide intraoperative and procedural echo support for TEE, TAVR, and Open-Heart Surgeries.
  • Evaluate complex cardiac structures, hemodynamics, and congenital abnormalities in different care settings.
  • Coordinate with the patient transport team to optimize workflow and turnaround times.
  • Analyze image data, perform measurements, and prepare preliminary reports for cardiologist review.
  • Maintain equipment readiness, monitor inventory, and ensure strict adherence to safety protocols.

4x10s (6:30 AM – 5:00 PM), Rotating Weekends & On-Call at least 1x/month

State License Needed:

Pay & Compensation:

Up to $3,100 weekly gross pay for travelers

About the Role

In this role, you will work alongside a highly collaborative cardiology team to deliver high-quality diagnostic cardiac ultrasound imaging across a diverse patient population.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform high-quality Transthoracic Echocardiograms (TTEs), Pediatric Echos, and 3D Imaging across adult, pediatric, and Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) patient populations.
  • Manage a high-volume daily caseload, maintaining an efficient schedule of 30–45 minute scanning slots for department coverage.
  • Provide intraoperative and procedural echo support for specialized interventions, including Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEE), Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR), and Open-Heart Surgeries.
  • Evaluate complex cardiac structural, hemodynamic, and congenital abnormalities in critical care, bedside, and outpatient settings.
  • Coordinate effectively with the patient transport team to optimize daily workflow and minimize turnaround times.
  • Analyze image data, perform quantitative measurements, and prepare preliminary diagnostic reports for cardiologist review.
  • Maintain equipment readiness, monitor inventory, and ensure strict adherence to patient safety protocols across all clinical modalities.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum 3+ years of clinical echocardiography experience in an acute care hospital setting, with demonstrated ability to practice independently with minimal orientation.
  • Certifications: Active RDCS (via ARDMS) or CCI credential in Adult Echocardiography.
  • Basic Life Support: Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience: 5+ years of clinical echocardiography experience in a high-volume hospital environment.
  • Advanced Pediatric/Neonatal Skills: Direct experience performing neonatal echocardiograms within a Level III NICU setting.
  • Procedural Expertise: Hands‑on experience supporting structural heart and intraoperative procedures, including TEE, TAVR, and Open‑Heart Surgeries.
