Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU role in Prescott, AZ. The ideal candidate has 2+ years CVICU experience, an active AZ or compact RN license, and current BLS/ACLS.

You’ll work 12-hour night shifts on a 7-on/7-off schedule in a 12-bed CVICU with Cerner EMR and heavy critical care responsibilities. Role includes on-call/holiday coverage, travel duos with separate schedules, and a navy blue scrubs requirement.

Qualifications

• Active AZ or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required
• Experience with IABP, CRRT, and fresh open-heart surgery (OHS) patients from the OR required
• Impella experience desired
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• Must be able to titrate drips including Dex, Propofol, Dopamine, Neo, Epi, Levo, Insulin, and Cardene
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to contract signing
• Travel duos must have separate vehicles and may not share the same schedule
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) of an acute care hospital
• 12-bed unit with patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:1 based on acuity
• Common diagnoses include AMI, CAD, and PVD
• In-room cardiac monitors only (Nihon Kohden); RNs read their own strips
• Uses Cerner EMR
• 12-hour night shifts on a 7-on/7-off schedule
• Required to work 2 weekend shifts per pay period, which may vary (e.g., every Friday or Saturday night)
• Holiday coverage required
• On-call/standby required, maximum 3 shifts per 12-week contract
• Floating required as needed to ICU, PCU, MS, or Tele units across both campuses
• First to float designation for this position
• Charge nurse or house supervisor coverage available 24/7
• No nurse aides on this unit
• Intensivists available in-house
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7 at the department level, shared with ICU
• RT equipment includes vents, BiPap, CPAP, Vapotherm, and HiFlow
• Provide critical care nursing to cardiovascular ICU patients, including those with fresh open-heart surgery, AMI, CAD, and PVD
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Unit and department-specific orientation provided
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-associated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year
• Candidates who completed PRN work through outside staffing firms will still be considered
• Failure to pass the dysrhythmia exam within two attempts results in ineligibility for CommonSpirit Arizona and Sacramento facilities for 6 months
• Candidates with less than 7 days of requested time off and no holiday requests may be eligible for pre-screening and auto-offer
