- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement program and safety standards.
- Maintains the QC program mandated by the regulation or accrediting agencies (ACR).
- Demonstrates appropriate use of equipment and devices pertinent to the care and safety of the patient.
- Assists physician in procedures such as needle biopsies, renal biopsies, maintaining sterile technique.
- Performs duties of C.T. Technologist - obtains image quality according to principles and techniques for diagnostic radiology / fluoroscopy / Computerized Tomography.
- Selects protocol, proper field size, matrix, technical factors and computer program.
- Obtains patient history, explains routine procedures and addresses patient concerns.
- Coordinates workflow with team members for C.T.
- Complies with film badge policy 100% of the time.
- Shields patients per hospital protocols.
- Follows radiation protection guidelines of Title 17, CA Radiation Control Regulations.
- Demonstrates knowledge of care appropriate to age group including assessment, evaluation, planning and implementation of treatment or procedure.
- Enhances professional growth through educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
- Acquires 1 CEU yearly focusing on procedural Radiation Safety.
- Completes necessary education modules including Image Gently and Image Wisely.
- Transports patients to CT Scan room and / or CT Trailer; observes patient for unusual reactions or events.
- Prepares and maintains room for daily activities.
- Follows infection control guidelines, changes linen after each use and cleans room as required.
- Requests and orders supplies as necessary to keep materials on hand.
- Conducts work consistent with organization’s mission and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Projects a professional image, follows hospital dress code policy and wears appropriate hospital ID badge at all times while on duty.
- Accepts work assignments positively.
- Performs work that is accurate, neat and consistent, exercises good judgment and arrives at sound decisions.
- Performs any other duties or responsibilities assigned.
- Participates in call coverage for the services.
- Has not exceeded attendance and tardiness standards.
- No lapses in license / certification if required.
- Conducts work in a cost effective manner; uses appropriate level of care and resources.
- Receives authorization prior to working overtime; uses work time appropriately regardless of volume.
- Notifies supervisor prior to missing a meal or break period.
- Willingly assists other departments in periods of volume fluctuation.
