Duties and Responsibilities

CT technologists operate CT equipment to produce cross-sectional images of patients’ bones, organs, and tissues used for diagnosis.

• Position patients for CT scans using immobilization and protective equipment as necessary
• Set controls of the equipment, monitor equipment and patient, and make adjustments as needed
• Assist radiologists with imaging procedures, starting IVs, and injecting contrast if applicable
• Dispense oral contrast to patients for CT scans
• Assist radiologists with interventional CT procedures
• Evaluate CT scans for technical quality, collate processed images in sequence, and appropriately label
• Schedule patients for procedures and assist with clerical functions
• Charge procedures and supplies used to the patient record
• Load and operate power injectors for contrast media administration
• Deliver quality, cost‑effective patient care in a professional manner
• Maintain an environment of excellence, patient focused, providing timely compassionate quality patient care
• Promote and maintain a safe work environment for staff and patients, incorporating national patient safety initiatives
