Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist

Position Summary

Coordinates and participates in all computerized tomography scanning procedures. Responsible for setting up, monitoring, and operating complex computerized equipment for diagnostic purposes.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Set up and monitor computer operations of CT equipment for each patient, ensuring safe patient transfer and positioning using proper lifting techniques.
• Provide patient identification and obtain vital information regarding known allergies and pertinent medical history.
• Prepare and administer contrast media intravenously as protocolled by the Radiologist for necessary examinations.
• Generate and maintain images for permanent patient records and ensure studies are recorded on magnetic tape for future reference.
• Organize the daily patient schedule in coordination with the work-room technician.
• Maintain image quality according to departmental guidelines, including daily calibration and quality control of equipment.
• Ensure proper electronic/digital image capture, storage, transfer, and copying.
• Monitor patients for allergic reactions and respond appropriately, including assisting during emergency medical situations with basic CPR.
• Follow prescribed safety standards and regulations, ensuring protection for both self and patients.
• Maintain a clean working environment and manage departmental inventory levels effectively.
• Instruct and mentor new personnel as required.
• Assist Radiologists and physician specialists in performing specialized radiological procedures in alignment with departmental standards.
• Review and document pertinent patient history and clinical data to support Radiologist diagnosis.
• Maintain departmental registry in compliance with regulatory agency requirements.
• Participate in quality assessments and continuous improvement initiatives, including data collection and evaluation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of CT experience.
• Experience with Phillips equipment is required.
• Preferred experience as a travel technologist.
• Availability to work 2 out of the 3 upcoming holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's.

Certification Requirements

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• ARRT certification is required.
