Travel Consultant

Discovering the World—One Member at a Time! A love of travel attracts many people to the field, but to succeed a Travel Consultant must be passionate about travel and the endless opportunities it brings to bridge history, cultures and cuisine.

Successful Travel Consultants must have a strong sales drive, organizational skills with an eye for detail, ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment, demonstrated proficiency in navigating computers and various programs; must possess good written and oral communication skills and the ability and interest to be in a continuous learning curve.

Responsibilities

• Sell international and domestic travel packages including cruises, land packages, travel itineraries, air, car, and hotel.
• Share knowledge and expertise from personal experiences and/or education study trips.
• Develop long‑standing relationships with members and build referral and repeat business.
• Make appropriate recommendations to ensure the trip experience exceeds expectations and is tailored to the member’s needs.
• Cross‑sell relevant products such as AAA Member Rewards Credit Card and identify theft referrals.
• Perform administrative tasks related to travel bookings and documentation.
• Participate in evaluations to assess proficiency in sales, customer service, operations, and goal attainment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Must be able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check and a thorough urine drug screening.
• At least 2 years of successful retail sales, banking, or leisure travel agency experience in a goal‑oriented environment is preferred.
• Availability to work most Saturdays and some evenings.
• Strong sales drive, excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment.
• Computer savvy: ability to navigate multiple systems and web browsers, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and typing speed of at least 30 WPM.
• Comfortable with paperwork and highly organized.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
