Job summary

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a Travel Cath Lab RN for a 13-week assignment in Tacoma, WA. The RN will support cardiac catheterization procedures, prep patients, assist during interventions, and monitor recovery with a multidisciplinary team.

Requires one year of cath lab experience, a valid RN license, and active BLS and ACLS certifications. Preferred credentials include PALS/ENPC or RCIS; travel experience is a plus. Competitive pay, benefits, and strong clinical support.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients prior to procedures and review medical history
  • Position patients and place EKG leads for procedures
  • Assist during procedures, including catheter/wire/balloon/intervention placements
  • Operate and monitor hemodynamic equipment and interpret waveforms
  • Assist with arterial/venous sheath removal and post-procedure transport
  • Monitor vitals, ECG, and hemodynamic parameters during procedures
  • Support post-procedure recovery and smooth handoff of care
  • Troubleshoot cath lab equipment and maintain supplies
  • Communicate effectively with team, patients, and physicians
  • Adhere to safety, infection control, and regulatory standards
  • Perform other duties within scope of practice

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Cardiac Cath Lab RN for a 13‑week travel assignment in Tacoma, Washington. Required Qualifications
  • One year’s recent experience as a Cath Lab RN
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS (AHA/ARC) Certification
  • Current ACLS Certification

Summary

The Travel Cath Lab RN provides specialized care for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization and interventional treatments. The RN prepares patients for procedures, assists during interventions, and monitors immediate post‑procedure recovery. Working closely with cardiologists and cath lab teams, this role requires advanced cardiac care skills, cardiac catheterization skills, strong communication, and the ability to adapt quickly while maintaining strict safety and regulatory standards.

Essential Work Functions
  • Conduct assessment of patients prior to procedures, including reviewing medical history and performing physical exams
  • Assist in positioning patients correctly for the procedure and ensure EKG electrodes and cardiac leads are properly placed
  • Assist physicians during procedures, including the placement of catheters, wires, balloons, stents, structural heart devices, and other cardiac interventions
  • Operate and monitor hemodynamic equipment, recognizing and responding to changes in cardiac rhythms and hemodynamic waveforms
  • Assist in arterial and/or venous sheath removal using closure devices, manual pressure, or mechanical compression, and transport patients to the appropriate recovery area
  • Monitor vital signs, ECG, and hemodynamic parameters during cardiac catheterization and interventional procedure
  • Support post‑procedure care, including monitoring patient recovery and ensuring a smooth transition to the next phase of care
  • Maintain and troubleshoot cath lab equipment, ensuring everything is functioning properly and fully stocked for procedures
  • Communicate effectively with team members, patients, families, and physicians to provide seamless care
  • Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
Required Essential Skills

  • Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
  • Physical Abilities – Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50‑100lbs), push, pull, and bend
  • Interpersonal Skills – Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
  • Technical/Motor Skills – Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment
  • Mental Requirements – Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel. Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and maintain continuous concentration to detail
  • Sensory – Must possess visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate
