Job summary

Fusion Medical Staffing seeks a skilled Travel Cath Lab RN for a 13-week assignment in Clinton, Maryland. The RN will provide specialized cardiac catheterization care, prepare patients, assist during interventions, and monitor recovery with a focus on safety and regulatory standards.

Requirements include 1 year Cath Lab experience, active RN license, and BLS/ACLS certifications. Travel perks and dedicated clinical support are provided by Fusion Medical Staffing.

Qualifications

• One year’s recent experience as a Cath Lab RN
• Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
• Current BLS (AHA/ ARC) Certification
• Current ACLS Certification

Responsibilities

• Assess patients prior to procedures, review medical history and perform physical exams
• Assist in positioning patients and place EKG leads correctly
• Assist physicians during procedures, including catheter/wire placement
• Operate and monitor hemodynamic equipment and respond to rhythm changes
• Assist in arterial/venous sheath removal and transport to recovery area
• Monitor vital signs, ECG and hemodynamic parameters during procedures
• Support post-procedure care and ensure smooth recovery transition
• Maintain and troubleshoot cath lab equipment and stock
• Communicate with team, patients, families, and physicians to ensure seamless care
• Adhere to safety, infection control, and regulatory standards
• Perform other duties within scope of practice

Required Qualifications

Summary

The Travel Cath Lab RN provides specialized care for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization and interventional treatments. The RN prepares patients for procedures, assists during interventions, and monitors immediate post-procedure recovery. Working closely with cardiologists and cath lab teams, this role requires advanced cardiac care skills, cardiac catheterization skills, strong communication, and the ability to adapt quickly while maintaining strict safety and regulatory standards.

Essential Work Functions

Conduct assessment of patients prior to procedures, including reviewing medical history and performing physical examsAssist in positioning patients correctly for the procedure and ensure EKG electrodes and cardiac leads are properly placedAssist physicians during procedures, including the placement of catheters, wires, balloons, stents, structural heart devices, and other cardiac interventionsOperate and monitor hemodynamic equipment, recognizing and responding to changes in cardiac rhythms and hemodynamic waveformsAssist in arterial and/or venous sheath removal using closure devices, manual pressure, or mechanical compression, and transport patients to the appropriate recovery areaMonitor vital signs, ECG, and hemodynamic parameters during cardiac catheterization and interventional procedureSupport post-procedure care, including monitoring patient recovery and ensuring a smooth transition to the next phase of careMaintain and troubleshoot cath lab equipment, ensuring everything is functioning properly and fully stocked for proceduresCommunicate effectively with team members, patients, families, and physicians to provide seamless careAdhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standardsPerform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.

Required Essential Skills

Physical Abilities

• - Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend

• - Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism

Technical/Motor Skills

• - Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment

Mental Requirements

- Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel. Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail
