Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Cath Lab/EP Technologist for a diagnostic and interventional cardiac cath lab in the Washington, DC area. Requires 2+ years of recent experience and a prior travel assignment, with BLS/ACLS and ARRT/RCIS credentials.

The role covers diagnostic and interventional procedures, equipment setup, sterile technique, and room circulation. Travel candidates encouraged; no call, weekends, or major holidays.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent experience within the last 7 years.
• Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment.
• BLS and ACLS required.
• ARRT CI, ARRT VI, or RCIS required (ARRT or RCIS accepted).
• License required if applicable.
• Skilled in diagnostic and left/right heart catheterizations, hemodynamic monitoring, and permanent/temporary pacemaker insertion.
• Experience with AICD insertion/programming, angioplasty, aortography, pelvic and pulmonary angiography, and stent placement.
• Experience with dialysis graft interventions and upper/lower extremity angiography.
• Proficient in fluoroscopy equipment and sterile scrub/circulate procedures.
• EKG lead placement, access site prep, and recognition of life-threatening arrhythmias.
• Knowledge of isolation precautions, infection control, and rapid response protocols.

Responsibilities

• Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiac Cath Lab setting.
• Adult and geriatric patient population with diagnoses including CAD, PVD, and cancer.
• 1:5 staffing ratio.
• 5x8 hour day shifts, either 7:00 AM-3:30 PM or 9:00 AM-5:30 PM.
• No call, no weekends, and no major holidays required.
• Perform diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures including PPI, AICD insertion, and vascular interventions.
• Responsible for equipment setup, supply stocking, and maintaining sterile technique during procedures.
• Act as room circulator or scrub technician depending on procedure needs.
• Local candidates accepted within 60 miles at a lower rate.
• No more than 7 days of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first two weeks.
• Previous MedStar employees must have a minimum one-year separation before returning as a traveler.
• Candidates in cardiac-related specialties must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with at least 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms.
