Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced CVICU travel nurse for a New Brunswick, NJ assignment. The role requires CVICU expertise, fresh open-heart case experience, and an active NJ or Compact license. You will float to multiple ICUs and work 12-hour nights, 36 hours per week.

Eligible candidates include new travelers and locals; per-diem benefits and tax-free stipends may apply. Epic EMR is used for charting in this CVICU setting.

Qualifications

• Active NJ or Compact RN license at consideration.
• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications required.
• Minimum of 2 years recent acute care experience.
• CVICU experience with fresh open heart cases (CABG, MVR, AVR, TAVR).
• Experience with listed CVICU devices and monitoring equipment.
• Ability to assist with BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube insertion/removal, and 12-lead EKGs.
• First-time travelers welcome; locals accepted at the same rate.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) setting within a hospital
• Patient population includes fresh open heart cases, ventilated patients, chest tubes, lumbar drains, and those with acute or chronic renal failure
• Nurse-to-patient ratio ranges from 1:1 to 1:2
• Required to float to all ICUs, PACU, ED for ICU holding, and IMC units as needed
• Night shift (3x12 hours) from 19:00 to 07:30
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required, with a minimum of 2 out of 3 holidays
• Uses Epic EMR for charting
• Provide direct patient care for acute cardiovascular surgical and medical cases
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers
• Scrub attire is required for the unit
• Holiday and weekend rotation is mandatory
• Environment supports advanced cardiovascular intervention and recovery

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care experience required
• CVICU experience with fresh open heart cases such as CABG, MVR, AVR, and TAVR required
• Experience required with devices including Impella, IABP, CRRT using Prismaflex, Swan, FloTrac, Temp Pacers, A-lines, and ventilators
• Ability to assist with BiPAP, CPAP, chest tube insertion/removal, and conduct 12 lead EKGs
• May consider candidates with SICU experience who received initial training in a CVICU
• Must not have been employed by the specified health system within the past year
