Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring a CT or compact RN license and advanced cardiac ICU expertise.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) at a Level I Trauma, short-term acute care hospital
• High-acuity cardiac ICU unit with an average 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio on both days and nights
• Patient population includes critically ill cardiovascular surgical and medical cases
• Proficiency in swan-ganz monitoring is required
• Uses Epic for charting
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:00
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within scope is required to meet facility needs
• Participate in the care of complex, high-acuity cardiac patients including post-surgical, medical, and critical care cases
• Strong clinical skills and ability to manage high-acuity patients are essential
• No on-call required for this position
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in an academic medical environment
• Facility will auto-approve up to 7 days of requested time off; more requires approval
• Returning former staff must have a 2-year gap before being considered as a traveler
• No locals permitted within a 75-mile radius; exceptions apply only for specific modalities not including RN roles
• Scrubs required as per hospital policy
• Must be willing to assist during natural disaster or emergency response events

Requirements

• Active CT or compact RN license required; pending license accepted for consideration
• Minimum 3 years of recent cardiac ICU experience is required
• At least 1 year of Level I trauma center experience required
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Experience with swan-ganz monitoring required
• First-time travelers accepted with appropriate cardiothoracic ICU or critical care experience
• Flu vaccine required; COVID-19 vaccine and booster required unless exempt for medical or religious reasons
• No prior adverse actions on nursing license
