Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position requiring OH or compact RN license, advanced cardiac skills, and Epic experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Cardiovascular ICU unit in a hospital setting
• Patient population consists of critically ill cardiac patients with estimated nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1-2
• Duties include IV starts, telemetry monitoring, ventilator management, Swan-Ganz catheter use, conscious sedation, balloon pumps, and pulmonary artery lines
• Uses Epic EMR system; Epic experience is required
• 36-hour work week with 12-hour day (7:00A-7:30P) or night (7:00P-7:30A) shifts
• Required to work up to 6 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule period
• Rotating holiday coverage required
• Must float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
• No on-call responsibility
• Responsibilities include advanced monitoring, cardiac procedures, and critical care for cardiovascular patients
• Must be responsive and cooperative with credentialing and Ohio fingerprinting requirements prior to start
• Former employees are eligible if they have been separated from any Ohio State University hospital for 6 months or more
• Current employees at Ohio State University hospitals are ineligible for travel positions
• Time-off requests must be submitted during initial application
• Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers
• Must be prepared for rotation among units, but CVICU travelers will not be rotated more than once every 4 weeks

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license in hand at the time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certifications are required
• Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program is required
• Minimum of 2 years of Cardiac ICU experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Advanced cardiac skills including IV start, telemetry, vents, Swan-Ganz, sedation, balloon pumps, and PA lines
• Previous travel experience preferred
• Two professional references required; at least one must be from a formal leader such as a manager or supervisor
