Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in vehicle and trailer maintenance.
  • Must be able to operate a manual transmission vehicle.
  • Experience with Light & Heavy-Duty Gas & Diesel Engines.

Job description

Position Summary

The Travel Technician position is responsible for deploying to locations and performing a variety of safety inspection responsible for leading a team of Technicians and Mechanics in an aggressive quality preventative maintenance repair program, including the maintenance of Light Duty & Heavy Duty Gas & Diesel Engine vehicles, and other equipment to ensure a safe and efficient fleet. Due to region, must be willing to travel East Coast 10 days on Tuesday through the following Thursday (includes 2 travel days; 4 days off)

Shift Times: will vary pending each location can run 24/7 we have 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts

$28.00 hr - $37.00 hr

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepare vehicle records and report both manually and on a computer
  • Perform safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documentation required
  • Inspect and perform work on the under parts of vehicles
  • Access any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance
  • Move parts to and from the job site and remove or install these parts on vehicle
  • Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
  • Non travel weeks will be spent building Mobile Service Center trucks and completing other projects
  • Working closely with Fleet Managers and Senior Fleet Managers.
  • Up to 90% travel time
  • Perform other duties as required
Key Competencies and Minimum Education
  • Must have at least 5 years experience performing vehicle and trailer maintenance.
  • Must have experience Training Technicians
  • Must have experience with Air Brakes, Hydraulic Repairs, Light & Heavy-Duty Gas & Diesel Engines
  • Must have 609 Certificate
  • Excellent Customer Facing and Customer Solutions Skills
  • Excellent Excel, Outlook reviewing Metrics and Reports by location and repair.
  • Requires Travel
  • Must be East Coast Resident
  • Must be able to operate a manual transmission vehicle to determine if operating properly
  • Must be able to enter and exit the driver's compartment of the truck and/or behind cab using normally available footholds and handholds.
  • Must provide own hand tools
  • Perform DOT inspections
  • Ability to follow instructions and complete required training
  • Basic computer skills
  • Basic written and verbal communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervisors, etc.)
Working Conditions
  • Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job.
  • Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, diesel fumes and noise.
  • Exposure to chemicals, oils, greases or other irritants
  • Access any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance
  • Ability to move and position heavy objects
  • Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel and crawl to repair vehicles
  • Ability to work outside in various weather conditions.
