Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. seeks an Inpatient Acute Physical Therapist Assistant with 2+ years of experience for a Level 2 trauma center setting. This role requires an active PTA license and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities include supporting a diverse patient population, performing assessments, and coordinating with a large rehab team in a fast-paced hospital environment. Training is provided, and travel opportunities may arise.

Qualifications

• Current PTA license required if applicable
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Must possess critical thinking skills and ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment
• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required

Responsibilities

• Acute inpatient setting at a level 2 trauma center
• Day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• Patient population includes neurological, orthopedic, cardiovascular, oncological, and general medical conditions
• Float across all units within the hospital, mostly located in one tower
• Uses Cerner EMR for real-time documentation and point of service care
• Work within a large rehab team of approximately 45-50 associates including PT, OT, and speech therapy
• Core team includes approximately 8 physical therapists and 3 physical therapist assistants, supplemented by PRN staff
• Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patient condition under PT oversight
• Assist in implementing and revising individualized plans of care involving patient and family
• Perform therapy interventions using standard physical therapy techniques appropriate to patient condition
• Engage regularly with an interdisciplinary care team
• Oversee activities of PT students and support personnel as directed
• Training provided by the clinical team to prepare for unit-specific responsibilities
• Radius rule applies which may affect pay rate for local candidates; contact for details
• Travelers should discuss extension opportunities with their manager at least 45 days before assignment end date
