Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist for an Acute Care Hospital setting in California, requiring 2+ years of acute care experience and a hard stop for acute care background. The role involves trauma-focused inpatient care with a 5x8 day schedule and weekend shifts every 6 weeks.

The position uses Epic for charting, with no on-call duties and potential to float to a nearby facility. Housing allowances and travel reimbursements are among the benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of PT experience with acute care as a hard requirement.
• Trauma experience highly preferred; able to work independently in trauma settings.
• BLS certification required.
• CA license required if applicable.
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required.

Responsibilities

• Provide PT care in an Acute Care Inpatient unit within a Trauma Level II facility.
• Day shift: 5x8 hours, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.
• Mon–Fri with 3 weekend shifts every 6 weeks (Sat or Sun).
• May float to a sister facility nearby.
• Use Epic for charting; no on-call duties.
• Assess, evaluate, plan and discharge acute care patients.
• Manage a caseload across orthopedic, neurologic and cardiopulmonary conditions.
• Holiday scheduling typically avoided for travelers; may work around holidays.
• Local candidates may be considered at a lower bill rate within 50 miles.
• First-time travelers welcome if acute care and trauma experienced.
• Previous staff must wait 3 months before returning as traveler; live outside 50-mile radius.
• On-site parking is available.
