Job summary

Cooper University Health Care is seeking an experienced trauma ICU support role to assist nursing and physician staff in caring for critically ill patients. The position requires EMT field experience and readiness to stock and maintain carts and equipment around the clock.

The role is full-time, nights, with a 36-hour weekly schedule (7:00 PM–7:30 AM) and weekend/holiday rotation. NJ EMT certification and Basic Life Support are required.

Qualifications

• EMT field experience and pre-hospital care.
• Proficiency in EKG, phlebotomy, and ACCU-Check.
• Current NJ EMT certification (or eligible for reciprocity) and NJ-BLS certification).

Responsibilities

• Assist RN and physician staff in caring for critically ill or injured patients.
• Stock and order equipment and supplies; maintain 24-hour readiness across units.

Short Description

Assist RN and physician staff with care of critically ill and injured patients. Responsible for stocking and ordering of equipment and supplies and maintaining a 24 hour ready status in all units. Responsible for cleaning, maintenance and stocking of unit equipment and supply in procedure carts.

Overview

TheTrauma/Surgical ICU (TSICU) is a 28-bed critical care unit specializing in the care oftraumatically injured patients or those patients undergoing complex surgeries requiring close monitoring and care. Patients are admitted directly from the ED, the RossTraumaAdmitting Area, or the operating room.Patients usually cared for in this area include those withtraumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, rib fractures and lung injuries, as well as diverse orthopedic injuries requiring frequent monitoring and care.Many patients cared forthe inthe TSICUarepoly‑trauma, with injuries involving more than one body system. Common surgical patients include those undergoing Whipple procedures, esophagectomies, gastrostomies, and abdominal aortic aneurysms. The unit is staffed with registered nurses, critical care technicians,traumasurgery nurse practitioners, resident physicians and attendingtraumasurgeons. Staff also work closely with respiratory therapy and specialized surgical groups such as orthopedics and neurosurgery. Nurses and critical care technicians working in this area receive education specific to the care of thetraumapatient.

Experience Required

EMT Field and pre-hospital experience.

High School Diploma or Equivalent required.

License/Certification Requirements

urrent New Jersey EMT certification or eligible for reciprocity, NREMT preferred.
