Job summary

Hartford HealthCare invites qualified Physician Assistants and Acute Care Nurse Practitioners to join a level one trauma center team at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, CT. You will participate in multidisciplinary trauma care from the ER to the OR, with extensive training and onboarding provided for advanced procedures.

The role opens to PAs and ACNPs, offering full-time hours, no-call schedule, and premium differentials on shifts.

Qualifications

  • Unrestricted CT medical license or eligibility
  • Certified or board-eligible Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
  • New graduates welcome to apply
  • 2+ years’ experience in a surgical setting

Responsibilities

  • Assess trauma patients as part of an multidisciplinary team
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses and staff to plan care
  • Perform routine physical examinations and develop medical/educational plans
  • Provide management and resuscitation for level one trauma patients
  • Assist in operating room (first assist) and related procedures

Position Details

Come join a fantastic level one trauma center team that recently won AP team of the year for Hartford Hospital! The Advanced Practitioners (APPs) are part of a multidisciplinary team that plans and delivers care for trauma patients from the emergency room to the operating room, surgical floors, critical care units, and outpatient settings. Extensive training and onboarding will be provided for skills including but not limited to management and resuscitation of level one trauma patients, first assist OR skills, chest tubes, central lines, and other procedures.

Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioner Role Scope

Under established guidelines and in collaboration and/or supervision with the practice physician(s), Advanced Practitioners perform routine physical examinations, and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients.

In consultation with the physician(s) and care team members, Advanced Practitioners develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists.

Advanced Practitioners provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider’s practice as designated by protocols and identifies problems outside of their scope of practice and refers appropriately to physician.
