Job summary

CommonSpirit Health in Chandler, AZ is seeking a Trauma Surgery Advanced Practitioner to deliver high-acuity care in a Level I Trauma Center. You will work a 12-hour shift schedule with day and night rotations, providing comprehensive medical management for general surgery and trauma patients.

You’ll conduct histories and exams, order and interpret labs/imaging, educate patients, and document in the EMR while complying with regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

• PA-C degree and AZ license with DEA registration.
• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• AZ Regulatory Board license and NCCPA certification.
• National credentialing for medical staff must be met.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity care in a Level I Trauma Center in Chandler.
• Conduct histories, exams, orders, imaging interpretation, and critical communication.
• Participate in 12-hour shifts with day and night rotations.
• Rounding with residents and students; bedside procedures and first assist
• Prescribe medications within scope and manage inpatient education; EMR documentation

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As ourTrauma Surgery Advanced Practitioner, you will deliverhigh-acuity patient carewithin aLevel I Trauma Centerin Chandler, Arizona. This pivotal role involves providing comprehensive medical management to a diverse patient population, encompassing bothgeneral surgeryandtrauma patients. You will be an integral part of a dedicated team, ensuring continuous 24/7 service line coverage through a varied 12-hour shift schedule that includes both day and night rotations. Your expertise will directly impact patient outcomes in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.

Every day you will conduct detailed medical histories and physical examinations, proficiently order and interpret diagnostic labs and imaging, and effectively communicate critical information to attending physicians. You'll be instrumental inpatient education, counseling individuals on pre- and post-operative care, trauma recovery, and expected outcomes. Furthermore, you'll manage medical documentation via ourElectronic Medical Record (EMR), ensuring compliance with all regulatory and health system guidelines for accurate billing. Your responsibilities will extend to routine rounding with residents and students, prescribing medications within your scope, and performing essential bedside procedures, occasionally providing surgical first assistance to attending surgeons.

To be successful in this role, you will possess a current Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in Arizona and maintain active hospital privileges. You'll demonstrate an unwavering commitment to continuing medical education (CME), ensuring your medical knowledge and skills remain cutting-edge in the ever-evolving field of trauma surgery. Your exceptional communication and interpersonal skills will be crucial for effective collaboration with the multidisciplinary trauma team and for providing compassionate patient-centered care, all while upholding the highest ethical standards and complying with all applicable laws and regulations.

Job Requirements

PA

• Degree as a Physician Assistant (PA-C)
• Active or eligible license in the state of Arizona
• Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program
• Must hold and maintain: a.) AZ Regulatory Board of Physician Assistants License, b.) NCCPA - National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant
• Valid DEA registration
• Must meet credentialing criteria for medical staff

NP

• Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN)
• Active or eligible license in the state of Arizona
• Graduate of accredited program for Nurse Practitioners
• Compact state or Arizona RN license
• Must hold and maintain National Certificate as a nurse practitioner in area of specialty under AZ regulations: a.) NP-AACN, b.) NP-AANP, c.) NP-ANCC
• Valid DEA registration
• Must meet credentialing criteria for medical staff
