Job summary

Dignity Health Medical Group in Arizona is seeking a Trauma Surgeon to lead surgical teams, manage complex traumatic cases, and drive exceptional patient outcomes within a Level I trauma center.

You will be responsible for performing advanced procedures, guiding residents and medical learners, and contributing to ongoing professional development while joining a multidisciplinary group with a commitment to social justice and health equity.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree required.
  • ACGME residency in general surgery.
  • Fellowship in Trauma or surgical critical care.
  • ABMS board eligible or certified.
  • Active or eligible medical license in Arizona.

Responsibilities

  • Lead surgical teams in high-stakes environments and perform complex procedures to stabilize and repair life-threatening injuries.
  • Diagnose and treat a wide range of traumatic conditions with precision and calm under pressure.
  • Mentor and educate learners (medical, PA, NP, residents) within a multispecialty group.
  • Provide inpatient trauma care and outpatient follow-up as needed.
  • Contribute to ongoing professional development and advancement in trauma care.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As ourTrauma Surgeon, you will helpcritically injured patientsreceiveimmediate, expert surgical interventionso they canachieve optimal recovery and improved quality of life. This vital role is central to our commitment to providing world-class emergency care.

In this role, you willlead surgical teams in high-stakes environments, performing complex procedures to stabilize and repair life-threatening injuries. You will be expected todiagnose and treat a wide range of traumatic conditions, from blunt force trauma to penetrating injuries, with precision and calm under pressure, leveraging the latest surgical techniques and technologies. Some additional details:

  • ACS Level 1 Trauma Center
  • Joining a group of 7 trauma/acute care surgeons, 13 app’s within a multispecialty medical group
  • Inpatient census of 40-70, dedicated Surgical ICU
  • Outpatient clinic for elective surgery (if desired) and trauma/surgical followup.
  • Learners from multiple institutions, including medical, PA, NP students, and PGY 1-5 residents from general surgery and emergency medicine(Creighton University East Valley Arizona).

To be successful in this role, you must possessboard certification in General Surgery with fellowship training in Trauma Surgery or Surgical Critical Care, alongside a proven track record in a Level I trauma center. We are seeking a highly skilled individual withexceptional clinical judgment, strong leadership capabilities, and a commitment to continuous professional developmentin the evolving field of trauma care.
