Job summary

HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital in Bluffton, SC is seeking an RN Trauma PI Coordinator to lead the Trauma Program’s quality initiatives, review cases in real time and assess performance against ACS standards. You will partner with the Trauma Medical Director and Trauma Program Director to drive improvements.

The role includes presenting findings at PI and trauma operations meetings, educating clinical teams, and collaborating on guidelines, research, and verification preparation.

Qualifications

• ACLS, BLS, TNCC must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
• RN license in South Carolina or a compact license is required.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Trauma/ER experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review trauma cases in real time and retrospectively to assess quality, timeliness, adherence to guidelines, and alignment with ACS/state standards.
• Identify and validate performance-improvement opportunities and system issues; support action plans for improvements.
• Coordinate and document Trauma PI activities, events, data elements, and registry information for compliance and verification.

Job Summary and Qualifications

As an RN Trauma Performance Improvement (PI) Coordinator, you will lead the Trauma Program’s work to keep care safe and high‑quality from the time a patient arrives until they leave the hospital. You will work with the Trauma Medical Director and Trauma Program Director to review cases, analyze system performance, and use data to make changes that improve patient care. Your role ensures care meets national ACS standards, supports program requirements, and shows our commitment to providing safe, reliable, and high‑quality trauma care.

Your role will include:

• Reviewing and analyzingtrauma cases—both in real time and retrospectively—to assess quality, timeliness, adherence to guidelines, and alignment with ACS and state standards
• Identifyingandvalidatingperformance-improvement opportunities, adverse events, and system issues, and supporting action plans that drive measurable, closed-loop improvements
• Coordinating and documentingTrauma PIPS activities, PI events, data elements, and registry information todemonstratecompliance and support trauma center verification
• Preparing and presentingselected cases, trends, and quality findings for multidisciplinary PI, peer review, and trauma operations meetings
• Educating and supportingclinical teams, residents, EMS agencies, and outlying facilities by sharing trauma PI principles, guidelines, and best practices
• Collaborating and contributingto guideline development, research initiatives, verification preparation, and ongoing improvements across the trauma service line

What qualifications you will need:

• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• (RN) Registered Nurse in the state of South Carolina or hold a compact nursing license
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Previous experience in Trauma and/or ER preferred
