Summary:

Responsible for managing the trauma data registry (NTRACS) and the burn data registry (burnTRACS). Identifies, collects, codes, scores injury severity and enters patient data into each NTRACS' database.

Description:
  1. Organizes and enters injury data into the trauma registry database (NTRACS) regarding the patients injury event, its severity, the patients care and outcome.
  2. Identifies burn or trauma patients from the admission records on a daily basis.
  3. Abstracts appropriate data elements for all trauma patients, reviewing both concurrently and retrospectively to ensure all necessary elements are captured.
  4. Establishes the injury severity score using AIS methodology as well as injury procedures and injury diagnosis using ICD 10 methodology.
  5. Performs on-going quality assurance and data validation assessments to ensure accuracy of the data and to meet regulatory compliance and accrediting standards.
  6. Assists with quality improvement or research projects/studies as required.
  7. Generates reports to provide data and statistical information to burn, trauma and injury prevention directors and to appropriate others serving as a conduit to monitor AC's trauma trends, supplying benchmarking data, and identifying injury trends by age, geographic location, and cause of injury.
  8. Submits data to the national database and Arkansas Department of Health Trauma Section at required intervals.
  9. Participates in state trauma database users groups meetings and periodic training; participates in burn registry education.
  10. Generates data to evaluate outcomes for specific trauma entities used to evaluate timeliness, appropriateness, and quality of patient care.
