Job description

This is a casual position which is subject to renewal on 09/13/2025.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Trauma Services Manager, the Trauma Registrar/Data Analyst is responsible for ongoing review, abstraction, verification, injury & diagnosis coding, and recording of trauma patient demographics, clinical information, and quality improvement reporting in the San Diego Trauma System registry database at RCHSD. Additionally, the role involves retrieving and assembling data from various trauma databases for oversight agency reporting, research, quality improvement, and injury prevention activities. The Trauma Registrar collaborates with RCHSD IS, County & State Emergency Medical Services, and the American College of Surgeons National Trauma Data Bank to ensure data quality, timely submission, and participate in quality indicator screening and PI discussions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3 Years of Experience
  • Successful completion of the ATS Trauma Registrar course (or equivalent satisfying ACS requirements) within 6 months of hire
  • Successful completion of the AAAM Injury Scaling course within 12 months of hire
  • Successful completion of a Trauma-specific ICD-10 course within 12 months of hire
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of computers and software including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5 Years of Experience
  • Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist (CAISS) by the Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine
  • Certified Specialist in Trauma Registries (CSTR) by the American Trauma Society
  • Trauma Specific ICD-10 Course within the last 5 years
  • Experience as a trauma registrar in a verified ACS trauma center and working knowledge of trauma registry software and databases

The current salary range for this position is $29.48 to $40.55.
