Responsibilities

Position Summary: The Trauma Registrar is responsible for data collection, including abstracting, analyzing, data entry, and data completion for the trauma patient population. They also handle data submission, distribution, and report generation for relevant parties within designated timeframes. This role supports projects under the direction of the Trauma Program Director and reports directly to them.

Qualifications

Minimum:

• At least one year of recent coding experience or two years in a clinical support role.
• Medical terminology proficiency is essential.
• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Proficiency in computer usage is essential.
• Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
• Self-directed with initiative to work independently.
• Computer skills in word processing (Word, Excel) and data management.
• Knowledge of computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, email, database management, and report writing.
• Extensive knowledge of registry maintenance and related regulations.
• Completion of ATS Trauma Registrar course within 6 months of hire.
• Completion of AAAM Trauma Coding course within 6 months of hire.
• Certified Specialist Trauma Registry (CSTR) certification required within 2 years of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Trauma experience, especially with data integrity and analysis.
• Previous registry/report writing experience.
• Associate's Degree.
• Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist (CAISS).
• Familiarity with AIS/ISS ICD-9/ICD-10 coding is highly recommended.

Pay Range: $24.10 - $34.94 per hour
