What You Can Expect:

Under limited supervision, the Trauma Registrar is responsible for reviewing applicable documentation and assigning appropriate procedure and diagnosis codes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assigning ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes by interpreting clinical data for reimbursement, planning, management, and statistical analysis.
  • Evaluating the quality and integrity of clinical documentation to identify incomplete or inconsistent data affecting code selection and payments.
  • Validating pertinent data points in patient records for accuracy, consistency, and completeness for clinical and financial purposes.
  • Maintaining coding productivity standards based on record type.
  • Meeting or exceeding coding accuracy standards as defined in performance metrics.
  • Providing ongoing feedback to Trauma Registry Managers regarding documentation and charge opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associates Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Must possess at least one of the following credentials: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, COC, CIC, CRC, CAISS, or CSTR.
