Job summary

Vassar Brothers Medical Center is seeking a Trauma Data Registrar to lead collection and reporting of trauma performance data, including ImageTrend, NYS DOH and NTDB, to inform internal stakeholders and external agencies.

The ideal candidate will be highly detail-oriented, with strong communication skills, proficiency in data abstraction from medical records, and solid database management abilities. A Bachelor's degree and 3 years of clinical trauma experience are preferred; RN preferred.

Qualifications

• Must attend two courses within 12 months of hire: Trauma Registrar Course or equivalent, and Injury Scaling Course; cert exam for CSTR or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 hours of registry-specific continuing education per year.
• Proficiency in ImageTend Trauma Registry.
• Ability to review and abstract clinical information from medical records; strong database management skills.
• Mathematical ability to validate and analyze data.

Responsibilities

• Collect and report Trauma Performance data to internal stakeholders and external agencies (NYS DOH, NTDB, ImageTrend).
• Ensure data accuracy and timeliness for reports and audits.
• Communicate findings effectively to clinical teams and leadership.

Under direction of the Director of Cardiovascular Quality and the Trauma Program Manager,the Trauma Data Registrar is responsible for the collection and reporting ofall TraumaPerformance activities (including but not limited to Image trend, NYS DOH and National Trauma Data Bank (NTDB)) to ensure accurate, informative and timely reporting to internal stakeholders and outside agencies.

This high visibility role requires a dynamic, detail-oriented professional with excellent communication skills.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Must attend or have previously attended two courses within 12 months of being hired: (1) the American Trauma Society's Trauma Registrar Course or equivalent provided by a state trauma program and (2) the Association of the Advancement of Automotive Medicine's Injury Scaling Course. A certifying examination is available through the sponsorship of the American Trauma Society's Registrar Certification Board, leading to the designation of certified specialist in trauma registries (CSTR) or equivalent.
• Registrars should complete a minimum of 8 hours of registry-specific continuing education per year.
• Must demonstrate proficiency in the use of the ImageTend Trauma Registry.
• Proficiency in the review and abstraction of clinical patient information from a medical record. Excellent database management skills.
• Mathematical ability necessary to validate and analyze data.

Education: Bachelor's degree.

Experience:3 years clinical healthcare experience working within a trauma program preferred.

License:RN preferred.

Certifications: TNCC, ACLS preferred
