The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) is seeking a Trauma Program Registrar to support data collection, coding, and reporting for the ANMC trauma services. Under the Trauma Program Manager, you will collect and analyze patient care outcomes, maintain the trauma registry, and prepare monthly and annual reports for ACS verification and state requirements.

This role emphasizes data‑driven quality improvement and collaboration with clinical departments to enhance trauma care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Non-supervisory – less than two years in nursing, medical records, hospital coding, health-science field, or related program work.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Preferred: Trauma Registrar II credentials and related familiarity with trauma registry.

Summary

Under direction of the Trauma Program Manager, assures compliance with the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACS-COT) and departmental requirements of the Trauma Registry. Assists with the development and implementation of activities that focus on demonstrating the quality and value of operations in the Trauma program. Assures accurate, timely, comprehensive data collection, coding and data entry. Validates identified trauma data. Supports and implements trauma registry data collection and data entry within the Native Health Care System.

Responsibilities

Collects and analyzes data regarding patient care outcomes, makes recommendations for change and interfaces with other referring facilities to evaluate their needs and assists with the development of their trauma programs. Fully participates in data collection, aggregation, analysis, and reporting ANMC trauma activities. Shares responsibility for maintaining the trauma registry. Consistently supports the planning and improvement activities for the Trauma Program.

Assists with the coordination of the Performance Improvement process to support a successful ACS verification of ANMC as a Level II Trauma Center as it relates to trauma registry data and documentation. Compiles monthly and annual reports, spreadsheets from the Trauma Registry, and other related databases as requested. Collates patient complications, morbidities, mortalities, and system issues for the trauma program. Communicates with identified departments and agencies to assure an understanding of patient care issues, concerns, or questions. Assures complete documentation of these interactions. Facilitates improvement efforts including process improvement and work redesign for assigned Clinical Core Business Group (CCBG) and Multidisciplinary Trauma QAI Peer Review.

Provides timely data submissions to the State Trauma Registrar, NTDB, and TQIP in compliance with state statute and trauma program requirements. Actively participates in ongoing preparations for the ACS site review. Collaborates with Trauma Program Manager and Trauma Medical Director to design and generate reports that comply with identified requirements and requests. Collaborates with coders and others to ensure that all required information is captured during the case documentation process.

Actively participates as a member of the Trauma Clinical Core Business Group and the Multidisciplinary Trauma QAI Peer Review team. Provides assistance to the Trauma Program Manager in planning and implementing trauma related programs and education that is data‑driven and evidence-based.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

High School Diploma

Minimum Experience Qualification

An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.

Non-supervisory – Less than two (2) years professional work experience in nursing, medical records, hospital coding, health‑science related field, health relate research, and/or health related program development, implementation and evaluation.

AND

Supervisory – none.

An Associate’s Degree in Medical Record Management Medical Terminology, Nursing, or related health science field.

Pre‑employment familiarity with Trauma Registry, medical terminology, ICD10, AIS coding, medical terminology and procedure codes

Preferred Certification Qualification

Certified Specialist in Trauma Registries (CSTR)
