Job Responsibilities

• Collect, review, and analyze data within medical records and trauma care reports to ensure quality care and identify performance gaps.
• Review reports and charts for qualifying patients based on American College of Surgeons and Oklahoma State Department of Health inclusion criteria.
• Code and report treatment cases using ICD-10 CM and AIS coding standards.
• Manage data, conduct case findings, abstract data, retrieve information, and perform analysis.
• Ensure compliance with guidelines from the American College of Surgeons, NTDB, and TQIP.
• Report statistics to physicians, administration, and outside agencies as requested.
• Assist with trauma registry information and ensure record completion guidelines are met.
• Participate in inter-rater validation of abstracted patient records.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Health Information Management baccalaureate or equivalent education and experience in coding, abstracting, or emergency room activities.
• Understanding of medical terminology and experience with electronic Medical Records.
• Minimum of one year trauma registrar experience for fully remote positions.
• Completion of courses such as the American Trauma Society’s Trauma Registrar Course or equivalent, Injury Scaling Course, and ICD-10 Coding Course within 12 months of hire.
• Knowledge of trauma registry principles, medical records policies, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, database management, report writing, and interpersonal skills.
