Job summary

Northwell Health in New York seeks a Nursing Manager for Trauma Critical Care to oversee clinical services, systems, and performance improvement within a multidisciplinary care approach for injured patients.

Working with the Trauma Medical Director, you will develop and maintain policies and procedures, establish care standards, and monitor quality indicators, processes, and outcomes to drive excellence in patient care.

Qualifications

  • BSN required.
  • Current New York State RN license required; certifications as needed.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience and 0-2 years in leadership/management.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Nurse Executive to establish nursing care standards and assess staff compliance.
  • Identifies research protocols affecting the patient population and informs nursing staff.
  • Facilitates support services essential to patient care.
  • Maintains a safe, caring environment that supports health teaching and patient/family expectations.
  • Develops unit goals aligned with institutional values with input from staff.
  • Monitors clinical process indicators, system issues, and outcomes for trauma patient care.
  • Develops quality indicators, filters, audits, and participates in trauma case reviews.
  • Assists team leaders in outlining and implementing remedial actions.

Job Description

Manages clinical services, systems, and performance improvement activities as they relate to a multidisciplinary approach to providing care to injured patients. Collaborates with the trauma Medical Director in developing and maintaining policies and procedures for the Trauma Critical Care Department.

Job Responsibility

  • Collaborates with the Nurse Executive to establish nursing care standards and evaluates staff compliance.
  • Identifies research protocols effecting the patient population served and keeps nursing staff informed.
  • Facilitates effective provision of support services essential to patient care.
  • Maintains a safe and caring environment for patients that is conducive to positive health teaching, and maintenance; patient and family expectations of care; develops mechanism to assess same.
  • Develops unit goals and objectives to support the institutional values and goals, with input from staff.
  • Recognizes the need for patient care to be delivered in a culturally sensitive manner and role models sensitivity to staff.
  • Monitors indicators of clinical process indicators, system issues, and outcomes related to the quality of care provided to trauma patients.
  • Develops quality indicators, filters, and audits; identifies trends and sentinel events; participates in case reviews of trauma patients.
  • Assists the team leaders in outlining and implementing remedial actions.

Job Qualification

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
  • Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience and 0-2 years of leadership / management experience, required.
