Job summary

Valley Children’s Healthcare is seeking an experienced Trauma Program Coordinator, RN to lead trauma education initiatives, support performance improvement efforts, and help ensure our trauma program meets the highest standards of patient care and regulatory excellence.

This hybrid role offers remote work 1–2 days per week with on-site requirements for meetings, education, and trauma program activities. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the facility.

Qualifications

  • BSN and California RN license required.
  • 3+ years in Trauma/ED/Critical Care nursing.
  • BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
  • TNCC certification within 12 months of hire.
  • ATCN certification within 12 months of hire.
  • Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer applications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate trauma education programs for physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Promote evidence-based practice and ensure compliance with ACS trauma standards and PIPS requirements.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to support continuous quality improvement initiatives that enhance patient outcomes.
  • Partner with the Trauma Program Quality Coordinator to identify, prioritize, and address performance improvement and patient safety opportunities.
  • Serve as an expert resource for trauma education, clinical practice, and regulatory standards.
  • Apply adult learning principles and innovative educational strategies to support professional development across diverse learner populations.
  • Assist with trauma verification activities, program initiatives, and organizational projects that support excellence in trauma care.

Are you passionate about advancing trauma care, educating clinicians, and driving quality improvement? We are seeking an experienced Trauma Program Coordinator, RN to lead trauma education initiatives, support performance improvement efforts, and help ensure our trauma program meets the highest standards of patient care and regulatory excellence.

This is a hybrid position, typically offering the opportunity to work remotely 1–2 days per week based on business needs. Regular onsite presence is required for meetings, education, collaboration, and trauma program activities. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the facility.

Primary Responsibilities

As the Trauma Program Coordinator, you will serve as a clinical leader, educator, and collaborative partner dedicated to advancing trauma care across the organization. Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate trauma education programs for physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Promote evidence-based practice and ensure compliance with American College of Surgeons (ACS) trauma standards and Trauma Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) requirements.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to support continuous quality improvement initiatives that enhance patient outcomes.
  • Partner closely with the Trauma Program Quality Coordinator to identify, prioritize, and address performance improvement and patient safety opportunities.
  • Serve as an expert resource for trauma education, clinical practice, and regulatory standards.
  • Apply adult learning principles and innovative educational strategies to support professional development across diverse learner populations.
  • Assist with trauma verification activities, program initiatives, and organizational projects that support excellence in trauma care.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Trauma, Emergency Department, and/or Critical Care nursing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA) within 30 days of hire
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification within 12 months of hire
  • Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) certification within 12 months of hire
  • Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, communication, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer applications

Preferred

  • Master's degree in Nursing, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or related field
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN)

Compensation & Schedule

Salary Range: $57.29 – $81.72 per hour

  • Full-Time (1.0 FTE)
  • 40 hours per week
  • Exempt position
  • Hybrid schedule with required on-site participation for meetings, education, regulatory activities, and special projects. Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the facility.
