Job summary

Midland Health in Midland, TX is seeking a Trauma PI and Outreach Nurse Coordinator to lead the trauma performance improvement and patient safety program, ensuring ACS verification and state trauma designation standards are met.

You will use registry data to monitor KPIs, educate staff, coordinate outreach, and respond to trauma activations, collaborating with ED, surgical teams, critical care, and departments.

Qualifications

• BSN required; MSN preferred.
• Current State of Texas License as a Registered Nurse.
• Clinical nursing experience in trauma, ED, or critical care nursing.
• ACLS, PALS, ENPC and TNCC are required within 18 months of date of employment.
• AAAM AIS15 & Trauma ICD-10 coding within 18 months of date of employment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the trauma PI & Patient Safety Plan (PIPS) per ACS and state standards.
• Use registry data to monitor compliance with KPIs and clinical practice guidelines.
• Serve as liaison between trauma service, ED, surgical teams, critical care, nursing units, and ancillary departments to resolve care issues.
• Provide education to staff and providers on trauma protocols, PI findings, and best-practice standards.
• Plan, coordinate, and deliver trauma education programs for internal and external audiences.
• Respond to trauma activations in-house and act as a resource regarding trauma patient care.
