Job summary

The Children's Home of Poughkeepsie is seeking Youth Counselors for its Unaccompanied Children Program. You will provide direct care, supervision, and support in a short-term, trauma-informed setting, implementing crisis intervention plans and engaging youth in therapeutic activities.

Role includes mentoring youth, promoting emotional regulation, and modeling appropriate behavior. Competitive benefits and a supportive work environment are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid New York State Driver's License for more than three years with a good driving record.
• Minimum of 1 year of verifiable experience working with children, including volunteer, professional, or internship roles.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and supervision to children in the program.
• Assist in implementing individualized crisis intervention plans.
• Engage youth in therapeutic activities and support emotional regulation.
• Serve as a mentor and model for healthy self-regulation.
