The Settlement Home for Children in Austin, TX is seeking Relief-Team Members to provide direct care for residents in a cottage, supporting daily implementation of individualized care plans in a structured, therapeutic environment.

Responsibilities include carrying out treatment plans, documenting behavior, transporting residents to activities, and participating in on-call support; prerequisites include age 21+, HS diploma or GED, valid TX driver’s license, background checks, and drug screening.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• High school diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; specifics on license age and violations.
• Clear criminal background per Texas DFPS requirements.
• Pass pre-employment drug screening and FBI fingerprint check.
• Demonstrated psychological sensitivity toward children and understanding of behavior dynamics.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care, supervision, and protection for residents in your cottage.
• Implement treatment plans and support residents in developing skills to meet behavioral goals.
• Facilitate structured recreational, leisure, and enrichment activities for residents.
• Ensure accurate documentation of daily behavior, incidents, medical needs, and activities.
• Support residents in attending school, work-training, or other scheduled activities.
• Transport residents to appointments, family visits, and required activities.
• Provide crisis intervention and participate in on-call support as scheduled.
• Work with cottage and program teams to maintain a therapeutic environment.
• Operate within organizational policies, procedures, and licensing standards.
• Participate in physical restraints when required per training and safety protocols.
