Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, social behavior or related field.
  • Two years in criminal justice, law enforcement, social sciences, or related field and two years’ experience in the legal system or progressively responsible community service agency, and two years as a Victim Advocate II, and one year supervisory experience.
  • Satisfactory equivalent combination of experience or training.

Responsibilities

  • Manage felony and juvenile criminal sexual conduct cases and provide countywide coverage with Victim Rights Advocate.
  • Provide notices and information to crime victims within statutory timeframes and notify about court proceedings and MDOC victim services.
  • Collect and process Victim Impact Statements and assist victims with sentencing and restitution inputs.
  • Provide trauma-informed, victim-centered education, referrals, crisis intervention, safety planning, and bond-condition support.
  • Assist victims with restitution and coordination with probation or court staff.
