Van Buren County Government seeks a Trauma‑informed Victim Advocate to provide comprehensive advocacy and case support to crime victims in felony and juvenile cases. You will coordinate grant reporting, assist with unit coverage, and serve as a resource to prosecutors and court staff on victim rights matters.

Responsibilities include notifying victims under CVRA, managing victim impact statements, and delivering trauma‑informed crisis intervention, safety planning, and court‑side advocacy

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, social behavior or related field required.
• Two years in criminal justice, law enforcement, social sciences, or related field and two years experience in legal system or crime victim related agency required.
• One year supervisory experience with crime victim related agency is desirable.

Responsabilités

• Manage felony and juvenile CSC cases and provide county-wide coverage as needed.
• Provide CVRA notices and information within statutory timeframes and notify about court proceedings.
• Administer Victim Impact Statements and assist victims with sentencing input.
• Deliver trauma-informed education, crisis intervention, safety planning, referrals, and courtroom advocacy.
• Assist victims with restitution, information gathering, and coordination with probation or court staff.
• Manage Victim Rights grant requirements and required reporting deadlines.
• Coordinate PBK letters and codes to support grant reporting and program updates.
• Remain a resource for prosecutors and court staff about Victim Rights Unit updates.
