Job summary

West Lothian Council’s Justice Service is seeking a Social Worker to lead on Community Payback Order caseloads. You will supervise offenders, collaborate with partners, and apply trauma-informed practice to support rehabilitation.

The post requires SSSC registration within six months, a valid Social Work qualification, and resilience in handling challenging cases. A fixed term contract and regional duties are included.

Qualifications

• BA in Social Work or other approved recognised Social Work qualification.
• Good understanding of the challenges of the client group.
• Must be prepared to work with violent and sexual offenders.
• Knowledge of what is currently effective in terms of reducing re-offending.
• Good level of legislative knowledge relevant to the post.
• Resilience, ability to communicate effectively and an ability to produce high quality written work.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Community Payback Order offenders within the team.
• Work across the Justice Service Teams to meet service needs.
• Adopt a trauma-informed approach when engaging with service users.
• Collaborate with service providers to manage complex caseloads.
